Hide description

Třída A měla výtlak 1,350 tun a mohla dosáhnout rychlosti 35 uzlů. V RN byla tato třída zlomová, neboť to byly první torpédoborce nově postavené od prvoválečných tříd V a W. Speciální pozornost byla u třídy věnována možnosti ubytování a vlastnostem na moři. Plány byly tak úspěšné, že třída sloužila jako základ pro stavbu dalších osmi tříd torpédoboců. Dalším standardem se stalo použití 3-bubnových kotlů typu Admiralty. Acheron obdřžel speciálně 500lb. kotle, zatímco ostatní pouze 300lb.
